Valencia

We've only just scratched the surface with Valencia and we've fallen in love with it. Lewis did a 'Boris Bike' equivalent this morning and rode to the beach for an explore. We then divided (and attempted to conquer) the morning - Lewis and Max hit the science museum and I took the baby to the aquarium. Max loved the kids zone where he could do things like building and play construction, and watch chicks hatch under an incubator. They also did an IMAX of Blue Planet (narrated by Kate Winslet not David, random) which Max was brilliant with and really enjoyed. Us girls saw lots of beautiful exhibits including the Beluga whales, who were playing right in front of her as she sat in the buggy - she was transfixed (as was I), a very special moment. I'm always torn about these things; sad to see any animals in captivity but also love that she can experience this and hopefully be inspired as she grows up. We met up for lunch - overpriced but necessary pit stop in the museum cafe - then Lewis did her nap in the pram while Max and I went on a kayak in the water outside the museum. €5 for 10 minutes and that was enough; he was desperate to have a go at "steering" and I was panicking he was going to drop the oar in the water. Meet up again and walk to Gulliver Park, which is based on the original tale - the climbing frame is a huge, horizontal Gulliver that you can walk along and slide down. It was quite precarious in places but Max enjoyed himself. We both had a go too. Then both of them were pretty hot and bothered by that point so we went for ice cream and they were delicious - she had vanilla, Max his standard chocolate, I had white chocolate pistachio (still thinking about it) and Lewis the dolche leche. Back via the supermarket, and it's Lewis' turn to explore tonight. He's been to a space simulator at the science museum, back on his bike and is now (hopefully) downtown with a beer and some pintxos in hand enjoying himself while I start to pack up for moving on tomorrow. Feeling so grateful for the last few days, as busy as they've been. Could do with more time here, but adventure (elsewhere) awaits...
