Biescas, Pyrenees (Pt.1 photos)
Waking up in the quiet of the mountains was just what we needed after a week of (mostly fun, sometimes intense) travel and chaos. Lewis had the brainwave to open our velux windows for some fresh air right before the rain last night, cue a soaking wet bed and us sleeping in a funny configuration. Started the day with a walk around Biescas; we found a play park and watched the sun slowly creep over the hills. Max apparently "can't walk" everytime he sees Mia-Rose in the baby carrier, so he took some cajoling to get moving. She had a sleep in the apartment and we planned our day. Up and off to the Adventure Park, where Max did rope climbing and ziplining. True to form, he takes a while to get going with these things and is definitely an initial observer, but once he got the hang of it he was flying around and saying "that was awesome" over and over. There was a beautiful restaurant there nestled in the trees where we stopped for lunch - it was shady and the food was great (cod and olives, salmon gazpacho soup). Back to the car, and we drove to a reservoir by Lanuza. The drive was incredible - such amazing scenery. I took Mia-Rose on an hour's hike through the forest and soaked it all in - water, forest, mountains as far as you can see. Girls adventure. Lewis drove practically to the French border and Max had a sleep in the car. We all met at Sallent de Gállego for a play, paddle in the stream and an ice cream hunt. Back to the apartment, quick swim in the pool (love that Max is so keen to do that) and usual, noisy food/bath/bed. I think they've both had a very special day, as have we.
