San Sebastian
What a beautiful place. After a hot and restless night (no air con) we were up pounding the streets to soak up as much we we could before the intense heat of the afternoon. We walked past churches, a river, lovely parks, the main library building, and Max found a playground he was very happy in while I carried on walking with the sleeping baby exploring the old town. A carousel ride later, we hit the beach - La Concha - supposedly one of the best city beaches in Europe. And it exceeded expectations; sandy, clean sea, stunning lush green backdrop and baroque style buildings in the distance, really lovely. Lots of friendly locals doing their thing. Lewis had a quick swim, Max chased the waves and the baby enjoyed eating her sandy sandwich on the towel. We then stopped for a drink while deciding where to eat lunch. We ended up eating at a great tapas place - luckily Mia-Rose fell asleep just in time for us to tuck in and enjoy a glass of wine (or two). Mix of sardines, salmon, cod, veg and potato plates. Max wasn't overly interested in the food but enjoyed his chips. We had a slow walk back with some ice cream and collapsed in a heap on return. After recouping some energy, we drove to the kids science museum where Max loved pressing all the buttons for the different exhibitions and running about the mirror maze. He covered his eyes and counted to ten to find Lewis and promptly ran straight into a mirror, it was so funny. He then went on the rollercoaster simulator which he wasn't too sure of but was brave to stay until the end. There was a play park outside so we made the most of that in the shade, Max met a little friend called Theresa and Mia-Rose enjoyed eating some grass and leaves. Back home, sort out of bags, naked babies crawling/running around, Max had another shower (a new thing for him this trip) and Mia-Rose had another sink bath. Onwards to our next stop tomorrow morning.
